E-referral training
This page is for all staff using e-referrals.
Training
All training resources are now available via this page. Please download and watch/read the resources that meet your needs.
Once you have completed the training, contact the Manager of your referral agency team and ask them to set up an account for you. If you are a Manager setting up a new team, contact vouchers@cardiff.foodbank.org.uk and they will send you a link to set up your account.
As soon as your account is set up you can issue e-referrals.
Introduction to Foodbank and E-referrals
This is for staff who are completely new to issuing Foodbank vouchers. It will give you an introduction to the Foodbank and its operations, including the criteria to use when issuing a voucher, and take you step-by-step through the process of issuing an e-referral.
Introduction to E-referrals
This is for staff who have already undertaken training in Cardiff Foodbank's operations and are familiar with the criteria to use when issuing vouchers. It takes you step by step through the process of finding/creating client records and issuing e-referral vouchers.
Referral Agency Guide
This guide is a supplementary resource for ongoing reference for all e-referral users and managers. The two additional documents give detailed guidance on Reasons for Referral and the collection of Ethnicity data.
The database also has a Help tab which will give you support with each process once you’re logged in.

*If you are taking over as Manager, you will also need to know how to set up new Users on the system. The information is in the Referral Agency Guide and is repeated below. Don’t forget to refer them to this page to access the training materials.
Managers: Setting up your Team(s)
To invite a new food bank user:
- Go to the Settings tab
- Click Manage Users
- Click Add new User
- Fill in the relevant details.* The Telephone field is optional, but everything else is required.
- Select User permission level
- Click Save
- The user will then be sent an automated invitation to their registered email address with a password reset token link. On first accessing their account they will be required to sign the digital statement before they proceed with any data system activities.
*The Job Title field is useful to manage multiple teams under one registration. Eg “Support Worker (Disability Team)”.
