We are so grateful to United Way UK for their kind donation of £1000 that will go towards the salary of the Distribution Manager here at Cardiff Foodbank.
The Distribution Manager is responsible for receiving all food donated by the general public into the warehouse and manages the committed regular volunteers who sort, date mark, and store the food safely. She is also responsible for the re-distribution of food out to the seven local distribution centres so that our clients can be given food to help them in their time of crisis.
Our work addresses the needs of those people in Cardiff who face hunger due to a crisis in their life, which leaves them unable to find enough money to pay for food. It also enables clients to be signposted to further support where possible so that they can get out of the cycle of difficulty they find themselves in.
Without the Distribution Manger managing the logistics of the food in and out and managing the volunteers and the van drivers, it would be significantly more difficult to deal with the logistics of the food distribution. Last year we received 132,758.25 kg’s of food in and distributed 125,325.6 kg’s.
